Here you will find details of the history of Prestwich.
Over the centuries the boundaries of Prestwich have changed from a small township to a large Parish encompassing other towns. As such the history of Prestwich sometimes crosses local boundaries, but generally speaking I have kept it within the present day borders.
You will find lots of links on all sorts of topics, some of local relevance some national and some international. You should (hopefully) get some idea of the History of Prestwich and where it fits into the History of Britain.
Below is an overlay map of Prestwich old and new. Basically I've tried to overlay an old map (1848) over a modern map. One map covers the centre of Prestwich from the Hilton Lane/Scholes Lane junction in the South, to the Fairfax Lane/Chester Street junction in the North, the other covers from Agecroft Hall in the South West to Hilton Lane in the North East.

I will try and expand this to cover the rest of Prestwich as I get time, and if I get some positive
feedback
