The Langleys of Agecroft had a black cockatrice on a silver shield, the        
first mention of this is for "Warden Ralf" Rector of Prestwich 1445-93;           ?
Silver shield, black cockatrice with red beak and wattles. I think this also        
applied to Agecroft,  but  was changed at the time of the visitations to the       Thomas Langley   Cecile Davenport
Cockatrice and mermaid quartered with the cockatrice as the crest. (the       B: about 1480   B: about 1500
mermaid came from the Prestwich family) I can't find how we came by the       M:1518
